A Little About Myself
First of all, I don't actually go around calling myself GuitarSteve as there are a lot of guys named Steve who play a mean guitar themselves. Case in point: Stevie Ray Vaughan, Steve Vai, and Steve Cropper just to name a few. The name GuitarSteve is just a catchy name for a website, so there you go: GuitarSteve.com. I've even dedicated a page HERE to all my favorite Steves who play guitar.
As for myself, I have been playing guitar since I can remember and my dad, being a musician and a music teacher, always had instruments around the house.
At first, I learned primarily by watching and listening and took to the vibes, then drums, keyboard, guitar, etc. Having a direct link to the Big Band Era through dear ol' dad (drummer and vibist who hung with the likes of the Mercer Brothers, Herbie Mann, Satchmo on occasion, and countless unknown greats) I sort of picked up a few thinks about music. How could you not? Later, I was fortunate enough to study with some incredibly gifted musicians and at college I took every music course I could find. I've played in a number of bands, have recorded some original music, and have been consumed with everything guitar related ever since.
Over the years I have developed an effective teaching style honed through years of experience and thousands of teaching sessions. Focusing on each student's individual interests and musical goals, lessons encompass both what students want to learn and what students need to learn. I cover many facets of guitar playing and provide the opportunity for an in depth music education.
I am effective with children as well as adults and will take on new students regardless of skill level or musical style: from elementary age beginners and casual strummers to classical guitar enthusiasts and full on shredders.
Also, I teach introductory to intermediate snare drum and drum set lessons as well as the bass. References will be provided upon request and the first lesson is always free. No obligation.
